Alert message sent 12/09/2019 16:08:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire

An event at Haywood Road Green, Mapperley includes a community picnic, table tennis challenge and art exhibition.

The park, which closed in July 2019 while works took place, has been transformed from a bowling green into a play area with rope pyramid, seesaws, slide, roundabout, balance beams, swings, picnic tables, benches and a table tennis area.

Organised by Haywood Road Community Association, the opening event takes place on Saturday 14 September from 12 noon – 5pm at Haywood Road Green, Mapperley. The Mayor of Gedling, Councillor Sandra Barnes, will officially open the park and there will be family events including a table tennis challenge, community picnic, a variety of stalls and activities and an art exhibition at Haywood Road Community Centre, next to the green.

Gedling Borough Council and FCC Communities Foundation Ltd, a not-for-profit business that awards grants for community, conservation and heritage projects, jointly provided the funding for the new park. The council provided £70,000 and a further £70,000 was provided by FCC Communities Foundation Ltd following a joint bid by the council and the Haywood Road Community Association.
