Advice to keep your pets safe at Halloween

Alert message sent 13/10/2019 13:33:00

Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

It’s almost Halloween, fun for us, but for our pets it can be a distressing time full of fear.
Follow the tips below to reduce the anxiety for your beloved animals.
During the fireworks season, keep windows and curtains closed and put a radio on to drown out the loud fireworks sounds.

If you are using fireworks at home use lower-noise fireworks as they will reduce stress caused to animals.

Inform pet owners in the neighbourhood of the date and time of the event.

Exercise your dog before the fireworks start to minimise distress to the animal.

Leave your pets at home; do not take them to firework events.

Leave plenty of toys for your pet to play with and choose a quiet room in the home.

Please also take into account the wildlife in your area.
Now go along and have some fun
Relax knowing you have done
All you can to protect your pet
Followed the rules the criteria met
And so from us enjoy the night
Safe in the knowledge you’ve got it right. : )
