Text message attempt to defraud - Postcode Lottery

Alert message sent 16/01/2020 17:17:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire

I have received a report from a trustworthy source to the effect that she had been sent a text message which addressed her by her forename and asked her to click on a link in the message to find out about a win on the Postcode Lottery. The link began with "http" whereas a genuine link of this kind would usually be secure (signified by "https"). She was suspicious and contacted the Postcode Lottery directly. They told her that this was nothing to do with them. They had already heard of this scam and had reported it to ActionFraud.

Please be careful about text messages like this - particularly if the message addresses you by name.
