Mini Police arrive at Bulwell

Alert message sent 24/01/2020 17:45:00

Information sent on behalf of Notts Police

Nottinghamshire Police are pleased to introduce our first intake of Mini Police for Bulwell. Mini Police is an engagement scheme designed to improve citizenship within our communities and give young children the opportunity to learn about their safety, their role within their community and how the police work within the community to keep us safe.
The scheme is aimed at children in year five within their school (age 9-11yrs) and focuses on the contribution young people can make into our communities to make it a better place to be. The scheme will improve the relationship between the police and the communities they serve and gives young people a voice to say what matters to them and to influence people around them in a positive way. The 20 successful applicants all from Bulwell St Marys School have already completed their fitness test and have been issued with their uniforms. During each term we aim to complete an educational event, a fun event and a Community event. We are pleased to say that on Thursday 23rd January 2020 we completed a litter pick near to Camberley Court in Bulwell and the Mini Police, Council Team and members from the local community managed to fill a magnificent 30 bags of rubbish. As you can see from the pictures the children look fantastic in their uniforms and were all really enthusiastic about the event. It gave the children a chance to reflect on the amount of litter that had been dropped and the effect it can have on the local community and wildlife. A big thank you to all who were involved and we hope that this event may encourage others to follow their example. #communityspirit #partnershipworking #keepingbulwelltidy #nottinghamshireminipolice #wedontjustseizecars #givingback
