WeAlert App for West Mercia NW

Alert message sent 06/02/2020 14:07:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch

Dear West Mercia Neighbourhood Watch Member,

We would like to share some good news with you.

We can all do amazing things on our own but together we can do so much more.
Working together, we can make things better in our communities, for our direct neighbours, family and friends, or just for your own personal protection.

Following the receipt late last year of a grant from the West Mercia PCC, Mr John Campion, we would like to introduce you to the WeAlert App for your phone, iPad & Android tablet from the Active Citizens Foundation.

Download the “WeAlert” app for:
FREE - PERSONAL DATA PROTECTED - NO ADVERTS & NO PHONE NUMBER REQUIRED.

WeAlert is FREE and it is for everyone, simply download the app to an Android or Apple device and register to receive real-time safety, crime and crime prevention information relevant to your area within West Mercia.
ALL current West Mercia NW Scheme's that are registered on the National NW Database, and that are visible to the WMNW team, have already been created within the App.

You can raise your own local alerts related to issues in your area and comment on received alerts.
Register using an email address and postcode and the app will automatically put you into the groups in your area. You do NOT need to use your real name just pick a ‘screen name’ or ‘Nickname’ and this is all anyone can ever see of you, so your privacy is protected.

Alerts and comments are filtered by the automatic bad language filter and monitored to prevent online abuse and anti-social behaviour.

Additionally, within the App you can create your own groups for your community or social group/s to share your own alerts. Groups can be open for anyone to join, or closed requiring membership of the group to be authorised by the group owner or you can setup your group to automatically add people in your mapped area based on their postcode. You can also ask us to set your personal group to Private so it is NOT seen on the map or in the list. YOU invite the people to join that YOU want and other people cannot even see your group to ask to join.

The Active Citizens Foundation are already posting information to the app from police and other sources to keep you informed with their small team of volunteer admins.

WeAlert is ideal for anyone who is concerned about using Social Media to report or comment on criminal or suspicious activity, only your ‘screen name’ / ‘Nickname’ is visible to anyone, including our volunteer Admin Team.

To help you get straight to the App, we have included the links for both Apple and Android devices below or you can look at the attached guides for where to find it and how to do a quick setup.

Kind regards,
West Mercia NW Exec Team
