Giving for Gedling volunteer network

Alert message sent 24/03/2020 17:29:00

Information sent on behalf of Neighbourhood Watch in Nottinghamshire

A “Giving for Gedling” Volunteer Network has been launched by Gedling Borough Council to help the most vulnerable and elderly residents affected by the coronavirus outbreak

The network is being organised by the council to coordinate and facilitate offers of help from local residents and community groups to support the most vulnerable in the community such as the elderly and those with pre-existing health conditions.

A website www.gedling.gov.uk/givingforgedling has been created that allows volunteers to register their interest in helping and allows any residents who need help to let us know so we can provide support.

The information provided by the volunteers and residents will be compiled by the council to create a database that will be shared as part of the humanitarian effort in response to the outbreak of the Coronavirus (Covid-19).

Volunteers are needed to help people who are staying at home and self-isolating including the most vulnerable and elderly in our borough.

The council is also asking for local community groups, charities, parish councils to contact the council to add them to the database.

The network will be working closely with Nottinghamshire County Council who have launched a phone line for people to call if they need support or if they want to volunteer. The number is 0300 500 8080 and is open Monday to Friday 8.30am – 5.30pm.
